Full Text
In 2024, Kylian Mbappe signed a five-year deal with Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as the club’s all-time leading goal scorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances.
Mbappe left PSG, his hometown club, in May 2024 to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Mbappe’s first season at Real Madrid experienced a slow start, despite winning the Pichichi Trophy with 31 goals as the La Liga top scorer and the European Golden Shoe with 62 points. He also became the first Real Madrid player to score 39 goals in his debut season.
But hours after Paris Saint-Germain won their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy on May 31, 2025, in Munich, a Facebook blog, Out of The Context Barcelona, posted a video of Kylian Mbappe, alleging he had announced his departure from Real Madrid to PSG.
In the 58-second video, Mbappe, dressed in a black T-shirt, can be heard saying, “I am announcing that I will be returning to Paris to join Paris Saint-Germain again because they just won the Champions League.”
The claim sparked controversy among social media users, eliciting mixed reactions.
While some believed the video was actual, others thought it was AI-generated.

Hours after the video was posted on Facebook, it garnered 7,000 likes, 371 comments, and 789 shares, appearing on other Facebook pages, such as here and here.
The video was also posted on X @plutostats and @itisplenty.
DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim because it could misinform the public.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted a Google search and found that no credible media house, including the Real Madrid CF website and MARCA, had reported the claim.
The researcher then reviewed Kylian Mbappe’s official Instagram page but found no evidence linking to the claim made by Out of the Context Barcelona.
We found that on the same day that Out of The Context Barcelona posted the video, Kylian Mbappe had only posted a congratulatory message on Instagram to honour PSG’s Champions League victory against Inter Milan.
The congratulatory message was transcribed from French: “The big day has finally arrived. Victory in true club style. Congratulations, Paris.”
Further research also showed that the video was doctored from an exclusive interview Kylian Mbappe had had with CNN’s Becky Anderson in 2021 about a possible move to Real Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur.
We also observed that Out of the Context Barcelona is a fan page for Barcelona, a rival club to Real Madrid.
Conclusion
Our investigation proved that the viral video of Kylian Mbappe announcing his departure from Real Madrid is doctored. There is no evidence that Kylian Mbappe wants to leave Real Madrid.

I shared it just to prank my rivalry, but is not what you’ve been thinking.
