Claim: An X user claims Manchester City’s Ederson is the only EPL goalkeeper with a GWR title.

Verdict: False. GWR also lists Cech, Hart, Van der Sar, Krul, and De Gea as title holders in their records, while they played in the EPL.

The Guinness World Record (GWR) is reputable for acknowledging individuals who possess or have achieved an exceptional level of a quality or attribute.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, an X user, Pizzy (@Pizzy_Kay), claimed that Manchester City’s first-choice goalkeeper, Ederson de Moraes, is the only English Premier League (EPL) goaltender to achieve a Guinness World Record title by having the longest football (soccer) drop kick.
“Ederson is the only EPL goalkeeper with a Guinness World Record,” he wrote.
As of Thursday, August 28, 2025, the post has earned over 3 million views, 248 comments, 1,400 likes, and 25,000 bookmarks.
DUBAWA observed that despite other X users’ commendation of the Brazilian’s achievement, some discredited the claim as untrue.
“Born with it,” Etihad Boy (@cityguru003) proudly wrote.
“Top record,” Alpha (@Alpha Utd) commented.
“You probably weren’t born yet when Cech bagged (two) Guinness world records,” @Papa Ibeji countered.
“It is incorrect that Ederson is the only EPL goalkeeper with a Guinness World Record,” Last Man Balling (@LastManBalling) disagreed.
Due to the conflicting reactions to the post’s authenticity, DUBAWA verified it.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted keyword searches for English Premier League (EPL) goalkeepers who have achieved the Guinness World Record (GWR) title.
Petr Cech, who played for Chelsea (2004-2015) and Arsenal (2015-2019), kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League from Aug. 15, 2004, to September 29, 2018. He has 202 clean sheets.
He also tied with former England international and City goalkeeper Joe Hart for the most received English Premier League Golden Glove awards. The Czech international received it four times, in 2005, 2010, 2014, and 2016. Moreover, he is the only goalkeeper to have won the Premier League Golden Glove with two clubs: Chelsea and Arsenal.
Former Netherlands international and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar holds a Guinness World Record for the longest minutes played in the Premier League without conceding a goal. He did not concede a goal for 1,311 minutes and saw that streak end when Peter Lovendranks scored for Newcastle in the ninth minute.
Tim Krul (Netherlands) and David de Gea (Spain) hold the world record for most saves in a single Match in the Premier League. Tim’s 14 saves helped his Newcastle side manage an away win against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in London on Nov. 10, 2013. De Gea equalled that feat for Manchester United in their victorious 3-1 encounter with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Dec. 2, 2017.
Meanwhile, City’s Ederson de Moraes has the world record for the longest smash drop kick, getting an outstanding 75.35 metres after three attempts. Before the challenge, the Brazilian was expected to surpass the previous record of 75 meters to become the new titleholder.
Conclusion
The claim is false. In their records, GWR also lists other goalkeepers who have once played in the EPL as title holders.
