In Sierra Leone, the array of AI-generated content designed to push propaganda and spread misinformation is becoming prevalent.
Al-generated content is becoming difficult to identify, considering its proliferation.
Bloggers, influencers, and social media users are using AI to spread fake narratives in a bid to increase online traffic.
A Facebook user, Wisemon Turay, posted an image of popular politician and entrepreneur, Mohamed Omodu Kamara, alleging that he has bought a private jet for Sierra Leoneans.
Part of the claim reads in full: “Mr JAGABAN has done it again. He just buys a brown new jet for Sierra Leoneans. Congratulations, sir.”
Since September 2025, when the claim was shared, it has gained 1.4k likes, 127 comments, and 30 shares.
The claim sparked mixed reactions among social media users. While some believed it to be true, others did not.

That same claim was found here and here.
DUBAWA decided to fact-check the claim due to its mandate to amplify the truth.
Verification
DUBAWA conducted a Google keyword search, but found that the claim was not reported by any credible news agency in the country.
Currently, the only privately owned airline in Sierra Leone operates its own flight carrier, Air Sierra Leone. According to Calabash Newspaper, it is privately owned by a subsidiary of the Nigerian parent company, Xejet.
Our investigation also showed that no individual has bought a jet for Sierra Leoneans.
Also, we observed the image and found that it was edited. Jagaban’s shoes appeared to be hanging, detached from the jet, and superimposed on the plane.
Furthermore, we subjected the image to two AI-image detectors, and the report was convincing that the picture was AI-manipulated.

Conclusion
DUBAWA’s investigation found that the photo is edited. In addition, it was not reported by any credible news agency.
