As misinformation and disinformation continue to thrive on social media platforms, DUBAWA took up the task of verifying such information to help society understand the truth.
Below are our top fact checks conducted last week:
- Orbatheh travels to the US
A Facebook user, My Echo, claims that a Sierra Leonean musician, Orbatheh, travelled to the United States of America (USA).
Orbatheh’s real name is Daniel Sesay, a popular musician in Makeni, Sierra Leone, whose songs have influenced many locals. He gained popularity with his debut song, “My Name na Orbatheh,” which immediately went viral in Sierra Leone.
DUBAWA noticed that the viral picture shows traces of artificial manipulation. The aeroplane windows and seats are distorted, while the background does not resemble a real aircraft cabin.
DUBAWA also contacted Orbatheh’s operations manager, Mr Stuntman, who said the claim is false. He said the picture was initially taken at a guesthouse in Kabala, where they had gone for an event. He also informed that the other man in the picture with the popular musician is a blogger who had requested an interview with Orbatheh.

- Viral video of Patience Jonathan counselling her husband over return to Aso Rock
An X user shared a video of former Nigeria’s first lady, Patience Jonathan, publicly questioning her husband on why he wants to return to the presidential villa, Aso Rock, and further stating she is not interested.
DUBAWA checked when the video was initially posted and discovered it was shared by Television Continental (TVC) on June 28, 2024. This means the event is not recent and puts away public sentiments about Goodluck Jonathan’s intentions to return as president. Those have only been public rumours so far.

- Liberia slumped in 2025 Global Peace Index report
Liberia’s Water and Sewer Corporation Managing Director, Mo Ali, claimed Liberia’s current position on the 2025 Global Peace Index report indicates a significant achievement for the country.
DUBAWA checked the 2025 Global Peace Index report and discovered that Liberia currently ranks 70 out of 163 peaceful countries worldwide. Liberia obtained a score of 1.939 in 2025, which was a drop from the previous score of 0.086 in 2024, showing a decline in peace sustainability in the West African country. Therefore, the claim is false.
