Claim: Different Facebook pages shared videos showing incidents involving air passengers disrupting activities at Ibom Air while disembarking from the aircraft.

Verdict: MISLEADING. The viral videos featured outdated incidents at various airports, preceding the recent case involving Ibom Air and Comfort Emmanson.

The recent scandal spike has put the Nigerian aviation sector in the spotlight, from Adams Oshiomole’s disruption of Air Peace operations to the ValueJet incident with Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM 1) and now the Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air case.
On Aug. 11, 2025, a Facebook user, The Republican News, shared a six-minute video showing commotion on an Ibom Air-branded aeroplane. In the caption, the page claimed that this incident happened after the KWAM 1 and Comfort’s incident (KWAM 2), hence the “KWAM 3” tag.
As of Aug. 13, 2025, the video had gained over 10,000 views, 36 reactions, and 22 comments.
Folake Flakkyfaj posted the video on Facebook on Aug. 11, 2025. The post gained over 1,600 reactions, 494 comments, and 519 reshares. The video also appeared on an Instagram blog, gaining reactions and comments.
Other Facebook users shared the KWAM 3 video here, here, here, and here.
Another Facebook page, Yoruba Space TV 2, shared a two-minute video claiming it was a separate incident involving a man disrupting Ibom Air operations. The user claimed this was the fourth incident in a row and tagged it “KWAM 4.”
The “KWAM 4” video has gained over 855,000 views, 6,700 reactions, and 1,600 comments since it was posted on Aug. 11, 2025.
The videos’ virality and implications for Ibom Air’s reputation prompted DUBAWA to fact-check them.
Verification
DUBAWA used Google Lens to conduct a Reverse Image Search on a keyframe from the KWAM 3 video. We found a report by TheCable on Jan. 8, 2025, which revealed that a passenger refused to fly without her checked-in luggage at departure.
Despite intervention by airline staff and the pilot, the passenger blocked the aisle at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, while demanding that her luggage be loaded.
The disruption led to the flight’s cancellation, affecting 89 other passengers. Due to the damages incurred by the airline, Michael Achimugu, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authorities’ (NCAA) public affairs and consumer protection director, revealed that the disruptive passenger would face prosecution.
We also conducted a Reverse Image Search on the “KWAM 4” incident involving Ibom Air. DUBAWA discovered that GoldMyneTV, a YouTube channel, uploaded a more extended video version two years ago.
Further search revealed that the middle-aged man in the video was Obiajulu Uja, who disrupted the Abuja-to-Lagos flight on March 31, 2023. In the video, he was urging other passengers to prevent the swearing-in of the 2023 presidential election winner, Bola Tinubu.
Conclusion
Both videos, which were circulated as a sequel to the KWAM 1 and Comfort incidents, are outdated. The first video happened on Jan. 8, 2025, while the other occurred on March 31, 2023. Therefore, the claims are misleading.
