There has been an alarming outbreak of Ebola in the DRC recently. This report has caused panic in other African Countries that share borders with Congo and those that have experienced the deadly disease before. Like Liberia, the country experienced Ebola in 2014, leaving over 4,000 people dead and 10,700 cases confirmed.
Recently, Togar Alexander Bealded took to Facebook claiming that Ebola is now in Liberia. The claimant cited the Ministry of Health as his source of allegation.
“Rivergee, Nimba, Grand Geded, and Maryland on high alert for reported Ebola and Lasser fever,” the post said.

Verification
DUBAWA contacted the Ministry of Health through its Communication Department. In response, the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) released a statement clarifying that there is no case of Ebola in the country.
NPHIL further stated that a test was carried out on specimens collected from suspected individuals, but the laboratory results were negative. It added that the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) regularly and routinely conducts surveillance and laboratory tests for Viral Hemorrhagic Fever pathogens (VHF), including Ebola virus and Marburg virus.
“The public is hereby informed that NPHIL cannot confirm any suspected VHF case in Liberia as of today, 10th September 2025 at 21:50 GMT,” the release said.
Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, Director General of NPHIL, assured the public in a live video that there is no case of Ebola in Liberia, as claimed.

Conclusion
Based on DUBAWA’s findings from NPHIL, there is no current case of Ebola in Liberia; as such, the claim is misleading.
