Nga Okamma, a Facebook blogger with 86,000 followers, has pulled down a video where he claimed that the Nigerian Army was issuing residential permits to terrorists in the South East.
At 2:58 PM on April 24, 2025, Nga Okamma posted a video (archived here), criticising the Nigerian Army for issuing residential ID cards to Fulanis, whom he described as terrorists in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria. In this video, he also showed an ID card issued to one Ibrahim Sale… (the second name appeared incomplete) from Katsina State.
His post quickly went viral, sparking controversial debates among other users. Some even accused the military of taking sides with claims that the government is deliberately sabotaging the security of Southeasterners.
Due to the sensitive nature of the claim, DUBAWA verified it. Although we found the circulating ID card genuine, it was issued to a cattle rearer employed by the Nigerian Army in 2021 to teach and rear cattle for soldiers at the 14 Brigade, Goodluck Jonathan Barracks, located in Ohafia, Abia State. This was in fulfilment of the Barracks Investment Initiative Programme (BIIP), which was launched by the Nigerian Army in 2017.
Captain Shamsudeen Umar, the unit’s Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO), confirmed that the ID card had expired but had not been retrieved.
Eleven weeks after our publication, we revisited Nga Okamma TV’s Facebook page only to discover that he had pulled down the post. Although the post (archived here) is no longer live on the page, the video remains active on other Facebook and Instagram accounts that reposted it, as seen here, here, and here.
DUBAWA observed that Nga Okamma TV is a strong supporter of the IPOB movement, as several of his videos are either in support of Simon Ekpa or Nnamdi Kanu.
