The counter exchanges led DUBAWA to conduct a fact-check.

Verification

DUBAWA first contacted the Liberia National Police spokesperson, Madam Cecelia Clarke, to find out if the police had made any arrests of such a nature. In her response, Madam Clarke said the information was untrue and lacked basis.

We extended our verification to the accused, Emmanuel M. Johnson, to ascertain whether he was in the custody of the Liberia National Police or had been previously arrested.

Chairperson Johnson told us in a phone conversation that the information was false. He acknowledged that their protest was peaceful and noted that the information was only intended to tarnish his reputation.

In addition, we conducted thorough research on credible media outlets in the country that covered the protest to verify any reports about the arrest of the CDC Youth Chairperson, but did not find any.

Conclusion

From our research and findings, the claim is false.
